A month after the Taliban retake Kabul, twelve-year-old Zaby and his mother flee toward Pakistan in the back of a truck with other refugees. She has told him they are going to meet his father. His father is dead.A contained survival drama, unfolding almost entirely inside a single truck over one night.

I made this journey myself as a child, in the back of a truck with my mother.
My last feature, Black Kite, premiered at TIFF and was acquired by Amazon Studios. I am an alumnus of the Warner Bros. Access x Academy Directing Program. Over the Next Hill is developed with the support of Telefilm Canada, Creative BC, and Canada Arts Council.
